We are offering fully funded places on the PCI-accredited and Advantage Level 4 “Helping People Help Themselves” Health Coaching Programme, delivered by Buckinghamshire Health & Social Care Academy


Course Location:

  • Chalfonts & Gerrards Cross Buckinghamshire Wellbeing Hub, Chalfonts & Gerrards Cross Hospital, Hampden Road, Chalfont St Peter, SL9 9DR


Course Dates:

  • Tuesday 6th October
  • Wednesday 7th October
  • Tuesday 3rd November
  • Wednesday 4th November


This is the same established programme delivered across Buckinghamshire, with all participants gaining a nationally recognised Level 4 accreditation in Health Coaching


  • Accreditation and Ongoing Development

    By completing the programme, you will:

    • Achieve a PCI-accredited, Advantage Level 4 Health Coaching qualification
    • Develop recognised skills in person-centred communication and behaviour change
    • Join a growing network of over 100 trained professionals across Buckinghamshire

    Following the course, you will also be invited to take part in an ongoing Community of Practice, where you will:

    • Continue developing your skills
    • Share learning and real experiences
    • Build relationships across organisations
    • Stay up to date with local services and support

    This community is a key part of embedding the learning and enabling long-term impact across the system. 

  • About the Programme

    This four-day programme develops the skills, confidence and approaches needed to hold high-quality, person-centred conversations that improve health and wellbeing.


    It focuses on helping you:

    • Understand what matters most to the people you support
    • Move from “fixing” to empowering and enabling
    • Support individuals to find their own solutions and make sustainable changes
    • Feel confident handling complex and sensitive conversations
  • What you'll learn

    Using the “Helping People Help Themselves” approach, the programme combines practical tools, behaviour change theory and real-world application.


    You will learn how to:

    • Use core coaching skills (listening, open questions, reflection)
    • Apply motivational interviewing techniques
    • Structure conversations that build trust and clarity
    • Support behaviour change using models such as COM-B
    • Use tools such as TGROW, MECC and SMARTER goal setting
    • Tailor your approach to different individuals and situations

    The programme is highly interactive and practice-based, helping you embed skills you can use immediately.


  • More than Training - A Chance to Connect

    A key strength of the programme is learning alongside others from across the system.


    Over the four days, you will:

    • Build relationships with professionals from different organisations
    • Develop understanding of how roles and services connect
    • Strengthen your ability to work collaboratively across the system
