What is Primary Care?

Primary care is your first point of contact with the NHS when you need healthcare. It’s often called the “front door of the NHS” and covers a wide range of everyday health needs.

Services included in Primary Care

  • General Practice (GPs) – diagnosing, treating and managing common health conditions, and referring to specialists if needed.
  • Pharmacies – providing advice on medicines, minor ailments, and some treatments.
  • Dental Practices – delivering routine check-ups and dental care.
  • Optometrists (eye care) – carrying out eye tests and identifying eye health issues.

The first BOB Pharmacists Leadership development programme cohort has been completed with 14 attendees.
