The Oliver McGowan Training on Learning Disability and Autism
The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism was developed in response to the tragic death of Oliver McGowan, which highlighted the urgent need for better training among health and social care professionals.
Under the Health and Care Act 2022, all CQC-registered providers are now legally required to ensure their staff receive training in learning disability and autism that’s appropriate to their role.
This training, named in Oliver’s memory, is the nationally recognised standard and is the recommended approach for equipping staff with the knowledge and skills to provide safe, compassionate, and inclusive care.
