How Our Writing Retreat has supported our Community

'Embedding successful change through collaboration'

Two years after attending our writing retreat, Shabana has made incredible strides in her academic and professional writing.

She recently presented at the RCN Conference, where she shared her research on students' experiences using AI tools, sparking thoughtful discussion and engagement.

Beyond her conference presentation, Shabana has also begun peer reviewing for a nursing journal, an experience she finds deeply rewarding.

We are thrilled to celebrate her achievements and proud to have played a role in her success.

'Creative Placements: Expanding our Reach'

We are delighted to spotlight the work of Helen Burgess and Kathryn Blair, whose recent publication, Creative Placements: Expanding Our Reach, was developed following their participation in our Writing Retreat.

Their article explores the growing relevance of role emerging placements in occupational therapy, an innovative response to workforce shortages and placement constraints.

By examining the benefits of placing students in non-traditional settings, particularly within the voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) sector, Helen and Kathryn offer a compelling vision for a more inclusive and sustainable future in healthcare education.

Challenges Faced by Transitioning Clinicians

We are proud to highlight the work of Kat Warrick and Anna Agyare , two dedicated clinicians who participated in our Writing Retreat. Their experience at the retreat served as a catalyst for the development of a compelling blog that explores the transition from clinical practice to academia.

Drawing on both personal insight and established frameworks, their blog examines the emotional and professional stages clinicians encounter when entering academic roles.

Their work exemplifies the kind of reflective scholarship our retreat is designed to inspire.
